Music-wise, what was the first 45, single or download you bought?
Submitted by Paddy Melt Wagon.
The first one was Lisette Melendez's "Together Forever." I was 11 and I didn't know what good music was back then.
What are your three favorite album covers of all-time? Any honorable mentions?
Question submitted by Tamara.
I haven't been into downloading music because I'm a designer at heart. The cover that got me into thinking about design is "Post" by Bjork. The vivid colors contrast her "international envelope" style blazer.
This cover is the best description of how the cover fits the music: chaotic, eccentric, kinetic, beautiful. The second is from the 1970s for "The Dude" by Quincy Jones. My parents had the original record, and when I was a young girl growing up in NYC, I knew that good music was to be found underneath this album jacket.
Last, the third favorite is "Stankonia" by OutKast.
It is the cover that Public Enemy should have done in the 1980s. If "B.O.B." had been the first track on the CD, this would have been my favorite.
Honorable mention:
The fifth U.K. cover of "Strange Little Girls" by Tori Amos ("I Don't Like Mondays")
"Mezzanine" by Massive Attack
On my Web site, I consistantly proclaim that I lack originiality with my posts. Today is no exception. This is stolen from VH1's Best Week Ever's iPod Shuffle Drinking Game. It might be fun to pass this along and have others join. Plus, it might be less embarrassing to share this here rather than at VH1.
